RR vs GT, IPL 2026: Gujarat Titans inflicted a massive defeat on the Rajasthan Royals on May 9, Saturday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur to register their fourth successive win of IPL 2026. With what is their biggest win in IPL history, Shubman Gill and co. have jumped to No.2 in the points table, while the Royals, who were bereft of their regular captain Riyan Parag, have dropped out of Super 4 and are in danger of missing out on a playoff spot.
RR vs GT, IPL 2026: B Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler capitalize on Rajasthan Royals pacers’ wayward lines
With Jofra Archer taking eight minutes to bowl the over, he bowled at least three wides and conceded 18 runs, including bowling a no-ball. While Tushar Deshpande was fairly disciplined, Archer’s second over and Brijesh Sharma’s opening over were equally wayward as B Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill got their side off to a blistering start. Sudharsan got to his half-century off only 30 deliveries, while Gill’s fourth fifty came off 30 balls too. Rookie spinner Yash Raj Punja broke the 118-run stand in the 11th over following which Gill cut loose. After Buttler perished for a quick-fire 13, Gill also departed for 84, missing out on a well-deserved hundred. With Brijesh and Deshpande stringing in some good overs, it seemed like the Titans will fall short of where they wish to be. However, Rahul Tewatia and Washington Sundar covered it in the final over with two sixes as it yielded 21 runs to lift the Titans to 229 in 20 overs.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi began the run-chase in trademark style, clobbering six off the very first delivery he faced. But the Titans sent back both the openers within the powerplay. Dhruv Jurel became Rashid Khan’s first of four victims after dishing out one four and three maximums in his 10-ball 24. The procession followed as the hosts slid from 68/2 to 91/5. The likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Shubham Dubey and Dasun Shanaka did their best but the 77-run loss was what it came down to. Rashid and Jason Holder were the chief destroyers, sharing seven wickets between them.
