Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) struggles continued in IPL 2026 as they lost their eighth consecutive game at home to now sit at the bottom of the points table. With the match on April 26, Sunday at the Ekana Cricket Stadium going to the super over, the Knight Riders held their nerve to register their second win to somehow keep themselves alive in the ten-team tournament. Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans have surged in the table after beating the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
LSG vs KKR, IPL 2026: Rinku Singh plays a central role as Kolkata Knight Riders cling on to win a tight contest
The struggles in powerplay continued for the three-time champions as they lost three wickets, including Angkrish Raghuvanshi controversially to obstructing the field. Mohsin Khan, who had earlier dismissed Tim Seifert, Ajinkya Rahane and Rovman Powell broke the promising 42-run stand between Cameron Green and Rinku Singh by sending the former packing for 34. He completed his maiden fifer by getting the better of Anukul Roy for a first-ball duck. But Rinku Singh’s death-overs heroics made a massive difference as he leathered the wily leggie Digvesh Rathi for four sixes off the final six balls to take Kolkata to a competitive 155 in 20 overs.
While Vaibhav Arora got Mitchell Marsh in the second over cheaply, Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram kept the runs coming until their 57-run stand came to a close, ended by Cameron Green. After Pant perished for 42, the Knight Riders kept chipping away amid all the drama until it came down to 7 off the final ball, with the three-time champions being heavy favourites. Mohammed Shami struck the final ball for a maximum to take the contest to super over. Tasked with bowling the super over, KKR’s long-standing lieutenant Sunil Narine sizzled as he dismissed Nicholas Pooran in the very first ball, followed by conceding a single. Aiden Markram’s wicket sealed the match for the Knight Riders, who needed only two runs to win and Rinku completed the job.
