IPL 2026 Qualifier-1: Big clash between RCB-Gujarat in Dharamshala, Kohli-Rashid face to face for final ticket

New Delhi. IPL 2026 has now reached its most exciting phase. After the end of the league stage, Qualifier-1 will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) in Dharamshala on Tuesday. This match is not just about win-loss, but also about making it straight to the finals.

Both teams finished the league stage with 18 points each, but RCB topped the points table on the back of better net run rate. However, now the old data has no importance. Now only one match will decide who will be the first team to reach the final.

Explosive batting became the strength of RCB

This season, RCB’s batting has emerged as the biggest challenge for the opposition teams. Virat Kohli used his experience to get the team out of many difficult situations, while Phil Salt, Rajat Patidar and aggressive middle order batsmen continuously scored big scores.

The biggest feature of RCB has been the depth of its batting. Even after the top order got out early, the lower order batsmen were successful in scoring runs quickly. This is why the team scored more than 200 in many matches.

This time the team’s bowling has also looked strong. Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar put pressure on the opponents by taking consecutive wickets with the new ball.

  • Gujarat’s bowling became the biggest weapon

The success story of Gujarat Titans has rested on their disciplined bowling. Shubman Gill, Sai Sudarshan and Jos Buttler contributed with the batting, but the real strength of the team proved to be the bowling unit.

The fast bowling trio of Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada and Prasidh Krishna did not give the batsmen a chance to play freely throughout the tournament. Apart from taking wickets with the new ball, this unit also showed excellent control in the death overs.

In the spin department, Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore changed the course of many matches by controlling the run rate in the middle overs. This is the reason why GT is considered to be the most balanced bowling team this season.

Gujarat’s confidence is also at its peak after the big 89-run win against Chennai Super Kings.

4 big collisions within the match

    Virat Kohli vs Kagiso Rabada

Rabada’s speed and Virat’s experience can make the match very interesting on the bouncy pitch of Dharamshala. This powerplay clash can decide the outcome of the match.

    Phil Salt vs Mohammed Siraj

Phil Salt, who is returning from injury, is known for his aggressive batting right from the beginning. Whereas Siraj, being a former RCB player, understands the mentality of the batsmen very well.

    Gill-Sudarshan vs Hazlewood-Bhuvneshwar

Gujarat’s batting largely depends on the top order. If RCB is successful in taking early wickets then GT may come under pressure.

Rashid Khan vs RCB Middle Order

A brilliant spell from Rashid Khan can change the direction of any match. However, Rajat Patidar’s record against spin bowling is a matter of relief for RCB.

    Who will be heavier?

If we look at the batting strength, RCB seems to be slightly ahead, but in terms of discipline and consistency in bowling, Gujarat Titans have been the most impressive team in the entire tournament.

That means, this match to be held in Dharamshala is not just a qualifier, but a direct competition between the two biggest forces of IPL 2026 – RCB’s aggressive batting and GT’s sharp bowling. This is the reason why this match is being considered like the final before the final.
