GT vs RR Q1 Highlights: Rajasthan stunned by Gill’s century; GT won Qualifier-2, now title battle with RCB
GT vs RR Q1 Highlights: Playing brilliant cricket in the Qualifier 2 match of IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans broke the dreams of Rajasthan Royals and secured their place in the title match. Batting first, Rajasthan Royals scored a total of 214 runs losing 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Vaibhav Suryavanshi narrowly missed scoring a century for the third time in his last four matches. On the pitch of Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium (Mullanpur, New Chandigarh), which is no less than a paradise for batsmen, Gujarat Titans’ openers Shubhman Gill and Sai Sudarshan batted with great understanding. Playing shots close to the ground, they made a record-breaking partnership of 167 runs for the first wicket in just 12.5 overs, thereby winning the match as well as Qualifier 2. GT won the match in just 18.4 overs and during this period they lost only 3 wickets. Shubman Gill scored the fifth century of his IPL career. He was out after scoring 104 runs on 53 balls. His innings included 15 fours and 3 sixes. The final of IPL 2026 means the battle for the title. The game will be played between GT and RCB on 31st May at Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat. This stadium is also the home ground of Shubman Gill’s team.
Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan changed the fate of the match
In reply, Gujarat Titans started very aggressively. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan made a stormy partnership of 167 runs for the first wicket, due to which the match came completely under the control of Gujarat. Sai Sudarshan scored 58 runs on 32 balls. His innings included 8 fours and 1 six. However, in the 13th over, he was out after being hit-wicket by Brijesh Sharma. After this, captain Shubhman Gill continued his attack and thrashed the Rajasthan bowlers. In his century innings, Gill hit 15 fours and 3 brilliant sixes.
Shubman Gill’s 5th IPL century
By scoring 104 runs in just 53 balls, he almost ensured his team’s victory. Joffra Archer gave him out LBW in the 15th over, but by then the balance of the match was completely tilted in favor of Gujarat. In the middle order, Washington Sundar also made an important contribution by scoring 16 runs in just 9 balls. In this match, the bowling attack of Rajasthan Royals looked quite ordinary. Joffra Archer, Nandre Berger and Brijesh Sharma took one wicket each, yet no bowler was able to put any pressure on the Gujarat batsmen. With this win, Gujarat Titans have confirmed their place in the final of IPL 2026. The captaincy and batting of captain Shubman Gill filled the team with new energy, while the brilliant season of Rajasthan Royals ended with this defeat.
