IPL: Shubman Gill did what no captain could do till date, this feat happened for the first time in the history of IPL.
Shubman Gill Record: In the second qualifier match of IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 7 wickets. With this spectacular win, GT has secured its place in the finals and will now play the final match with RCB on Sunday (31st May). The captain of GT was the hero of this victory against Rajasthan Royals. Captain Shubhman Gill batted brilliantly and played a century and led the team to victory.
During this innings, Gill accomplished a feat which no captain has been able to do till date in the history of IPL. Shubhman Gill scored 104 runs in his innings of 53 balls. He hit 15 fours and 3 sixes in his innings. Gill has become the first captain to score a century in an IPL playoff match.

While chasing the target of 215 runs given by RR, Gill along with Sai Sudarshan gave a tremendous start to GT and added 167 runs in 12.5 overs for the first wicket. Facing 32 balls, Sudarshan played a strong inning of 58 runs with the help of 8 fours and one six. Washington Sundar contributed 16 runs, while Rahul Tewatia remained unbeaten on 17 runs in 9 balls. GT achieved the target in 18.4 overs losing 3 wickets.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals scored 214 runs on the scoreboard after losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Vaibhav Suryavanshi batted brilliantly for RR and played a brilliant inning of 96 runs in 47 balls. The 15-year-old batsman hit 8 fours and 7 sixes in his innings. At the same time, Ravindra Jadeja scored unbeaten 45 runs in 35 balls.

The final match will be against Royal Challengers Bangalore
In the last overs, Donovan Ferreira batted brilliantly and scored unbeaten 38 runs in 11 balls. In bowling, Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder took 2-2 wickets for GT. With this victory, Gujarat Titans have secured the ticket for the finals. GT has made it to the finals for the third time. In the title match, the team will face Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
