Karnataka Cabinet has officially announced that IPL and international matches will be held at Chinnaswamy Stadium only. However, the government has made it clear that the matches will take place only if the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) follows strict safety protocols and implements all the recommendations of the Justice John Michael Cunha Commission.

Approval received in the cabinet meeting

This important decision was taken in the Karnataka cabinet meeting on 11 December. After the meeting it became clear that the government has given approval to KSCA to host IPL and international cricket. But this approval is not unconditional. The government clearly said that matches will be held in Chinnaswamy only when the stadium proves to be 100 percent safe.

These strict conditions will have to be implemented

KSCA will have to submit a detailed plan on security and crowd management to the government.

Hi-tech surveillance system will have to be implemented inside and outside the stadium.

All the recommendations of the Justice John Michael Cunha Commission will have to be compulsorily adopted.

Venkatesh Prasad’s promise confirmed

Just a few days ago, Venkatesh Prasad had registered a big victory in the KSCA elections. He had said after the victory, “We will bring cricket back in Chinnaswamy. Neither IPL nor international matches will go.” Now his claim seems to be proven correct. The new committee was in constant talks with the government, after which this big decision was taken.
