IPL 2026: Rinku Singh’s four in the Super Over gives KKR victory over LSG

The 38th match of IPL 2026 ended in a thrilling Super Over on Sunday at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Lucknow Super Giants to gain important points. Both the teams scored 155-155 runs in 20-20 overs, but in the super over, Rinku Singh gave victory to KKR by hitting a four on the very first ball.

Batting first, KKR had a bad start. Captain Ajinkya Rahane was out after scoring 10 runs, Tim Seifert 0, Angkrish Raghuvanshi 9 and Rovman Powell 1 run. Mohsin Khan took 5 wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs. Cameron Green scored 34 runs in 21 balls with 3 sixes. Then Rinku Singh did wonders. He scored unbeaten 83 runs in 51 balls with the help of 7 fours and 5 sixes. Made a partnership of 62 runs for the eighth wicket with Sunil Narine (4*).

In reply, the start of LSG’s innings also slowed down. Mitchell Marsh returned to the pavilion on 2 runs. Aiden Markram (27 balls, 31 runs) and captain Rishabh Pant (38 balls, 42 runs; 4 fours, 1 six) made a partnership of 57 runs. Nicholas Puran could score only 9 runs. Ayush Badoni added 24 runs with 2 sixes in 19 balls. George Linde out on 8 runs.

17 runs were needed in the last over. Himmat Singh and Mohammed Shami at the crease. Shami took a single, Himmat took 6 runs on two no-balls from Kartik Tyagi. Himmat (19 runs, 10 balls) out on the next ball. Prince Yadav’s single, dot ball, then Shami’s six. Shami tied the match by scoring 11* runs.

In the Super Over, Sunil Narine bowled Nicholas Pooran on the first ball. Rishabh Pant took 1 run. Aiden Markram’s shot was caught by Rovman Powell and Rinku at the boundary. LSG was reduced to 1 run. Rinku sealed the victory by hitting a four on the first ball. Varun Chakraborty and Vaibhav Arora took two wickets each for KKR. This victory will prove to be a big blow for KKR in the race for the play-offs.
