Rohit Sharma’s on-field blunder proves costly in MI vs KKR match
Former captain Rohit Sharma made a big mistake in the MI vs KKR IPL 2026 match on March 29. The hero of the Wankhede Stadium was not able to judge a regulation catch near the boundary role. The incident happened on the fifth delivery of the 15th over, bowled by spinner Allah Ghazanfar. Kolkata Knight Riders batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi hit the ball directly to the long-on area, with Rohit patrolling the region.
However, despite having all the time, Rohit misjudged the catch, thinking he was too close to the rope. His brain-fade moment not only gave a lifeline to the rival batter but also resulted in a boundary. Former players Anil Kumble and Navjot Singh Sidhu, who were in the commentary box, were baffled and questioned Rohit’s presence of mind.

The drop proved costly as Raghuvanshi was on 21 and went on to post 51 runs off 29 balls, laced with 6 boundaries and 2 sixes, with his runs coming at a strike rate of 175.86.
KKR reached 220/4 in their allotted 20 overs, with captain Ajinkya Rahane leading the charge. He accumulated 67 runs off 40 deliveries, including 5 sixes and 3 fours.
New Zealand opener Finn Allen was equally destructive as he took just 17 balls to contribute 37 runs, with the help of 6 boundaries and 2 maximums. He added 69 runs with Rahane in just 5.2 overs. Rinku Singh, who is the vice-captain of KKR, was impressive in the death overs, amassing an unbeaten 33 runs in 21 balls, including 4 boundaries.
For MI, Shardul Thakur was the most successful bowler, taking three wickets and conceding 39 runs from his four overs.
Meanwhile, the team management of the Mumbai Indians included Rohit in the playing XI instead of giving him a chance as an Impact Player.
