IPL 2026 schedule announced: Record 84 matches will be played, opening match between champions RCB and SRH

Mumbai, March 11. Team India as well as Indian cricket fans are in the throes of winning the third title in the ICC T20 World Cup, when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) raised the fever of the world’s most popular cricket league i.e. Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. In this sequence, the first 20 matches of the proposed IPL-19 from March 28 were announced. The complete program will be announced after the assembly elections in the three states.

If we look at the schedule of the first 20 matches, the current champion Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will start the season with the first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 28 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, all RCB home matches require approval from the expert committee. Punjab Kings (PBKS) first match of IPL 2025 will be against Gujarat Titans (GT) on March 31 in Mullanpur. Former five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, March 29.

According to the schedule, the first 20 matches of the league will be played at 10 venues. These include Bengaluru, Mumbai, Guwahati, (Mullanpur) New Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad. During this period, there will be four double headers in the tournament, in which the afternoon matches will start at 3.30 pm Indian time and the evening matches will start at 7.30 pm.
