Could not create pressure in middle overs

Shubhman Gill said that the team could not hit a single boundary between the 16th and 19th overs, which proved to be the turning point of the match. According to him, the team was in a good position after the powerplay, but that momentum could not be maintained. He also admitted that the bowlers were not able to bowl consistently on the right length, of which the opposition batsmen took advantage.

Virat Kohli’s life cost him dearly.

Gill mentioned that important moment when Virat Kohli got a lease of life at zero. After this, Kohli batted brilliantly and scored 81 runs in 44 balls. Along with him, Devdutt Padikkal also scored a flamboyant 55 runs in 27 balls. The partnership between the two in the middle overs completely changed the course of the match.

Gujarat players missed bowling

Gill admitted that the team’s bowlers could not take advantage of the opportunity. However, he also said that there was some help from the pitch, especially when Krunal Pandya was bowling, the ball was getting light grip. Gill believed that if some wickets had been taken at that time, the team could have made a comeback in the match.

Even Sai Sudarshan’s century could not bring victory

Earlier, while batting, Gujarat Titans had scored a strong score of 205 runs. Sai Sudarshan played a brilliant inning of 100 runs in 58 balls and also held the record of being the fastest to complete 2000 runs in IPL. Apart from them, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler also made important contributions to the team, but their innings could not lead the team to victory.
