IPL 2026: Varun Chakraborty returns after two matches, see playing-11 of CSK vs KKR
The 22nd match of IPL 2026 is being played between the two teams at the bottom of the points table. This match is being held between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 14 April at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. In this match, Kolkata won the toss and decided to bowl first. The team has entered the field with one change, in which Varun Chakraborty has been brought back in the playing 11, while Chennai has expressed confidence in its old team.
Currently, Chennai is ahead of Kolkata in the points table. Both the teams have played four matches each. Of these, CSK has won one match and is ranked 9th on the points table with a net run rate of -1.532. At the same time, KKR has not won a single match yet and is at the bottom 10th position with a net run rate of -1.315. Rahane’s statement on team combination
After winning the toss, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane said, ‘When things are not going your way, it is very important to maintain faith and stay positive. Like I said, our combination looked quite good in the last match. So now thinking about this match and just want to live in that moment. It is a bit difficult to find the right combination after the mega auction. On top of that, some players are injured and some are not available, so it becomes challenging. Today we have made just one change. Varun Chakraborty is fit, so he has come in the team in place of Navdeep Saini.
Varun Chakraborty’s fitness had been a major concern for KKR for the last two matches. Actually, during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he got injured in his finger while trying to take a catch and since then he was out of the team. That match was played on 2 April. Due to this injury, Varun could not play in both the matches against PBKS and the subsequent defeat to LSG at Eden Gardens.
