IPL 2026: Virat Kohli’s team will go for the second win, CSK will have to put all their strength in bowling… Know the complete situation of the match.
Bengaluru: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who got enough rest after a spectacular win in their first match, will try to get their second consecutive win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) here on Sunday. Sanju Samson’s form and the weakness of the bowling department is a matter of concern for CSK. The RCB team is well rested after registering a six-wicket win against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 28 and will take to the field refreshed.
Apart from mental and physical freshness, RCB now looks a much better team than its rivals. RCB has strong batsmen in the top order led by Virat Kohli. Kohli has kept himself relevant in this era of power hitting due to his unmatched skills. Devdutt Padikkal has awakened the real batsman within him which was clearly visible in his stormy innings of 61 runs off 26 balls against Sunrisers. Rajat Patidar is performing the dual role of captaining the team and strengthening RCB’s middle order well. RCB has improved a lot in its bowling. Their bowling was once considered weak but they have completely changed it by including some talented players.
RCB were expected to suffer a huge loss due to the absence of Josh Hazlewood, but Jacob Duffy replaced him with ease and dismantled the Sunrisers’ top order by taking three wickets. The RCB team can also consider including left-arm fast bowler Mangesh Yadav in the team in place of Abhinandan Singh for this match. Krunal Pandya and Suyyash Sharma are not among the veteran spinners of T20, but they have served RCB’s objective well with their tight bowling in the middle overs. Now they will have to control batsmen like Shivam Dubey, Sarfaraz Khan and Ayush Mhatre. As far as CSK is concerned, its bowlers need to perform well.
In the first two matches, he gave away 338 runs by taking just seven wickets in 30.5 overs. Its spinners Noor Ahmed and Rahul Chahar flopped badly against Punjab Kings on Friday. Despite there being no trace of dew in Chepauk, both of them together gave away 84 runs in eight overs. Fast bowlers Matt Henry, Khaleel Ahmed and Anshul Kamboj have also not been able to perform as expected so far. Chennai’s batting also has some shortcomings which need to be addressed and it starts with Samson’s form. Samson, who played an important role in India winning the title in the T20 World Cup, has so far been able to score only six and seven runs in two matches. If the Chennai team has to move forward strongly, then Samson will have to regain his rhythm as soon as possible.
