IPL Auction: Who is Mumbai’s Aman Khan, for whom CSK spent 40 lakhs

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have once again shown their traditional thinking and long-term strategy and have expressed confidence in Mumbai’s emerging all-rounder Aman Khan. By signing Aman at a base price of Rs 40 lakh, CSK has not only increased the strength of its domestic players but has also created a good option for the middle order and death overs.

Due to his strong hitting, batting under pressure and ability to bowl when needed, Aman Khan is being considered as a key for the future, who can provide balance and depth to the Chennai team in the coming season. CSK has selected him to strengthen their home team and strengthen their middle order.

Who is Aman Khan?

Aman Khan was born on 23 November 1996 in Mumbai. He is a right-handed middle-order batsman and right-arm medium pace bowler and is known as an all-rounder. He made his List-A cricket debut for Mumbai in the 2021 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He then made his T20 debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he gradually made his mark as a finisher.

Before CSK, Aman Khan has played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals in IPL. He did not get many opportunities with these teams but he showed his ability by playing some important innings. His fighting inning of 51 runs played against Gujarat Titans is especially remembered, in which he showed how to play under pressure. He has scored 115 runs in the 12 IPL matches played so far, although the franchises value his aggressive thinking and ability to play long shots more than his statistics.

How can it prove to be a game changer for Chennai Super Kings?

Chennai Super Kings will look to Aman Khan as a flexible option in the middle order, who can bat anywhere between numbers 5 to 7. He can score fast runs in the death overs and can also bowl 1-2 overs when conditions are favourable. On the Chennai pitch, where intelligent batting and slow bowling works, Aman’s ability to adapt to the conditions can gradually turn him into an important all-rounder. Over the course of a season he could evolve from an ordinary squad player to an influential match-winner.
