IPL: Controversy over use of mobile in Rajasthan Royals dugout

Guwahati, 11 April 2026: Rajasthan may have won the match played between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2026, but a new controversy has arisen outside the field. A senior official of Rajasthan Royals has now come under the radar of BCCI for using mobile phone while sitting in the dugout during the match.

A video of this match played in Guwahati is going viral on social media. In this video, Rajasthan’s star opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi is seen sitting in the dugout. Next to him, a person wearing Rajasthan jersey is seen comfortably using a mobile phone. During investigation, it was found that this person is none other than the team manager of Rajasthan Royals, Ravindra Singh Bhinder (Romi Bhinder).

According to the strict rules of International Cricket and IPL, no player, coach or support staff can use electronic devices like mobile phones or walkie-talkies during the match. Only the team manager is allowed to have a mobile phone, but that too is limited to the dressing room only. Under no circumstances can a manager use a mobile phone while sitting on the field or in the dugout. It is clearly visible in the video that Romi Bhinder was using the phone in public in the dugout, which is considered a direct violation of anti-corruption protocol and IPL playing conditions.

In the past, heavy fines or sanctions have been imposed by the BCCI in such cases. To prevent corruption, there is a strict ban on the use of mobile phones in cricket so that no information from outside can reach inside. Now it remains to be seen what action BCCI takes against the manager of Rajasthan Royals. In this match, Rajasthan Royals achieved the target of 202 runs given by Bangalore in the 18th over itself. Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s batting was praised in the match, but currently this video of the team manager is raising controversy over the joy of victory.
