IPL: Delhi captain Akshar Patel gets Rs. 12 lakh fine Gujarati
Delhi Capitals have lost their first match in IPL season 18. Chasing the target of 206 runs given by Mumbai Indians, Delhi was all out for 193 runs. After this defeat, BCCI has imposed a fine of Rs 12 lakh on Delhi captain Akshar Patel. This was the first match of IPL 2025 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Delhi Capitals had won all four matches played earlier, but had to face defeat on their home ground on Sunday. Batting first, Mumbai Indians scored 205 runs. Tilak Verma (59) and Ryan Rickelton (41) batted brilliantly.
Karun Nair played a brilliant inning of 89 runs for Delhi Capitals, he was out in the 12th over and at this time the team’s score was 135 runs. Delhi needed 71 runs in 50 balls to win but from here, no Delhi batsman could survive and Mumbai Indians won by 12 runs. Karan Sharma, who came as an impact player, took 3 wickets for 36 runs in a 4 over spell and was declared the best player of the match. Delhi Capitals could not complete their overs within the time limit, so the captain was fined Rs 12 lakh for slow over rate. As per Section 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate offences, this being his team’s first offense this season, he was fined Rs. A fine of Rs 12 lakh was imposed.

Ashutosh Sharma (17) was run out on the fourth ball of the over, Kuldeep Sharma (1) on the fifth ball and Mohit Sharma (0) was run out on the last ball. After this defeat, Delhi Capitals is second in the points table after winning 4 out of 5 matches. With the win, Mumbai Indians have reached 7th position in the points table.
