PSL 2026: Rilee Rossouw has found himself at the center of a lively debate after sharing his thoughts on how the Indian Premier League and the Pakistan Super League stack up against each other.
Rilee Rossouw’s Take on IPL vs PSL Sparks Conversation
Speaking about his experience, Rossouw highlighted that the two leagues feel quite different. While he acknowledged the IPL’s scale and entertainment factor, he said the PSL’s shorter format makes the competition feel sharper and more intense. He also pointed out that the IPL’s strong Bollywood influence gives it a more theatrical feel.
“IPL is a very long tournament, and PSL is a much more compact tournament where the competition is a lot more fierce. IPL obviously has the whole Bollywood backing it, so it’s a lot more of a movie than actual cricket,” Rossouw said.
PCB Policy Under the Spotlight
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board is facing questions over its rules regarding staff involvement in PSL teams. The issue came into focus after former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq confirmed he has been working with Peshawar Zalmi as a consultant.
Earlier, the board had stopped Sarfaraz Ahmed and Wahab Riaz from taking up roles with Quetta Gladiatorsciting a conflict of interest. The PCB maintains that individuals on its payroll should not be associated with franchise teams during the league.
Misbah-ul-Haq Clarifies His Position
Misbah explained that his case is not the same as others. According to him, his agreement with Zalmi was already in place before he took on his current responsibilities with the national setup.
“I had signed a contract with Zalmi before I became national selector and I only work for them as consultant on given days in a season,” Misbah told the media wearing the Peshawar Zalmi kit.
When questioned about the difference in treatment, he suggested that the PCB is best suited to explain the situation.
Close Access Helps in Selection Decisions
Sharing more insight, Misbah said his involvement in the PSL actually benefits his role as a selector. Being around players during matches allows him to better judge how they handle pressure and different situations.
“When you watch and observe them up close and see how they react to a particular situation it becomes easier for you to take decisions as a national selector,” he said.
With Rossouw’s candid comparison and the PCB’s ongoing policy questions, the PSL continues to generate buzz beyond just the action on the field.
