IPL: Lucknow team’s captain and players’ problems increase, penalty imposed Gujarati

After the defeat against Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants have got another shock. BCCI has fined captain Rishabh Pant and all his players. In this match, while chasing 216 runs, Lucknow was all out for 161 runs and Mumbai won the match by 54 runs. This penalty has been imposed on Lucknow Super Giants team due to slow over rate. This is the second violation of the law this season, due to which Pant has been fined heavily and other players have also suffered losses. In fact, if this happens for the first time, then only the captain is penalized, whereas if it happens for the second time, then the players along with the captain are also penalized.

A statement issued by the IPL said, “Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during the 45th match of the Tata Indian Premier League 2025 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.” “Under Section 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate offences, Pant has been fined Rs 24 lakh. The rest of the playing XI, which includes impact players, will be fined Rs 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their match fee, whichever is less.”

Rishabh Pant is the most expensive player in IPL history, he was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore. After making him the captain, the team was hopeful that their team would perform well. The team’s performance is not very bad but the captain has expressed disappointment so far. On Sunday too, against Mumbai Indians, he returned to the pavilion after scoring only 4 runs. Rishabh Pant has scored only 110 runs in 10 matches, while he has scored 63 runs in only one inning. This is Lucknow’s 5th defeat in 10 matches. The team is in sixth place with 10 points. Now the remaining 4 matches are going to be important for writing.
