IPL Mini Auction: Uncapped Prashant-Karthik created history, Green became the most expensive foreign player, Venkatesh-Bishnoi suffered a big loss.

Abu Dhabi, 16 December. A total of 77 players were bought and sold for Rs 215.45 crore in the mini auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 held on Tuesday at the Etihad Arena Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Of these, 29 were foreign players.

Prashant and Karthik are the most expensive uncapped players in IPL history.

Currently, the auction of the 19th season of IPL is in the names of two uncapped players – all-rounders Prashant Veer and Karthik Sharma. 20-year-old Prashant, resident of Amethi (UP) and son of Shikshamitra, was bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for a record Rs 14.20 crore. CSK also bought 19-year-old Rajasthan wicketkeeper batsman Karthik Sharma for the same amount. The deal made both of them the most expensive uncapped players in IPL history.

KKR bought Cameron Green for 25.20 crores

Whereas Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 25.20 crore. He became the most expensive foreigner and third most expensive player in IPL history. Sri Lankan Mathisha Pathirana was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 18 crores while Liam Livingstone was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 13 crores in the accelerated auction.

DC by Jammu and Kashmir’s uncapped player Aaqib Nabi bought for Rs 8.40 crore

Another uncapped player, Aaqib Nabi Dar of Jammu and Kashmir was bought by Delhi Capitals (DC) for Rs 8.40 crore. Mangesh Yadav was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 5.20 crore. At present, there were no special bids for many big names. Venkatesh Iyer was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 7 crore while Ravi Bishnoi was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 7.20 crore.

There has been a significant decline in the prices of Venkatesh and Bishnoi.

It is noteworthy that Venkatesh Iyer was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 23.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Lucknow Super Giants had retained Bishnoi for Rs 11 crore. In the accelerated auction, Sarfaraz Khan was bought by Chennai Super Kings and Prithvi Shaw was bought by Delhi Capitals. Both were sold at the base price of Rs 75 lakh. Chennai Super Kings spent Rs 5.20 crore for Rahul Chahar while no bid was received for Australian captain Steve Smith.
