Group A
- chennai superkings (CSK)
- Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
- Rajasthan Royals (RR)
- Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
- punjab kings (PBKS)
group b
- Mumbai Indians (MI)
- Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
- Gujarat Titans (GT)
- Delhi Capitals (DC)
- Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)
How is the schedule decided?
- 10 teams are divided into two groups (A and B) in sets of 5 each. This distribution is done through ‘seeding’ based on the titles won by the teams and the record of playing the finals.
- Each team plays 2-2 matches (one at home and one away) with the remaining 4 teams of its group.
- Each team also plays 2 matches with one team from the other group which is immediately in front of it (same row) in the seeding table. For example, MI and CSK face each other twice even though they are in different groups. Apart from this, MI will also face KKR, RR, RCB and PBKS twice.
- Each team plays only 1-1 match with the remaining 4 teams of the second group. (Total 4 matches)
In this way 8 + 2 + 4 = 14 matches are completed. Although the teams are divided into groups, the points table is the same. Top-4 teams qualify for the playoffs.
