IPL: KL Rahul or Axar Patel, who will be the captain of Delhi Capitals? DC owner told

New Delhi: After buying right-handed batsman KL Rahul in the mega auction for IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals (DC) co-owner Parth Jindal opened up about the captaincy of the franchise between Rahul and all-rounder Axar Patel. In the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Indian stars KL Rahul and Axar Patel will play a huge role in the batting. Both players will play long periods of time to allow the other explosive players to express themselves well.

In the recently concluded mega auction, Delhi bought KL for Rs 14 crore. After a bidding war between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals entered the fray and got an opening batsman, captain and wicketkeeper-batsman option in Rahul. Axar, on the other hand, was retained by the franchise for his consistent performances since joining the team in 2019.

who will be the captain

Parth Jindal told ESPNcricinfo that it is a bit premature to talk about captaincy. Axar Patel has been with the franchise for a very long time and he was the vice-captain for the last cycle, so we don't know if it will be Axar or someone else. A lot remains to be done.

He said that I spoke to KL, but have not met him yet. I know him personally very well, I will understand his views, and, it will depend on the coaching group and ultimately what Kiran and I want to do. There is still plenty of time for this.

Good relations with Rahul

Jindal said that Rahul is very happy, very excited to be a part of Delhi. He has known me for a long time. He is a Bangalore (Bengaluru) boy. I am the owner of Bengaluru FC (in the Indian Super League), so he has watched some matches with me. I know his wife Athiya very well. She has been a close family friend growing up in Mumbai.
