Iran America war and our domestic politics
By Varsha Pargat
Iran US war Ever since the Iran US war started, we have seen that many of our opposition leaders are strongly criticizing the policies of the Modi government. Rahul Gandhi raised big questions on the silence of the Indian government by calling Modi a “Compromise PM”.
Congress and Rahul Gandhi are expecting from Modi ji that he should issue his statement on this matter. After the death of Ayatollah Khamenei, many leaders including Sonia Gandhi wanted Modi ji to express his opinion and clarify India’s policy. Congress and opposition leaders were raising questions on India’s role in the death of Ayatollah Khamenei. There were demonstrations against Israel and America in many cities of India, which were supported by Congress and many other parties. India and Modi government were moving forward their policies very thoughtfully. Three-four days after Khamenei’s death, India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misry went to the Iran Embassy and wrote a condolence message.

The whole world is talking about this war and bringing forward its policies. This war brought worries for everyone. A huge threat has arisen for oil and gas. Some European countries came out openly against Donald Trump. Refused to support in the war. On the other hand, Donald Trump is threatening these countries. UK, France, Italy and Germany, these countries do not want to enter the war. They want to protect themselves by giving statements like “We have not started the war”.
This was a time of great dilemma for India also. Staying with America is also a crisis and standing with Iran is also a crisis. In such a situation, adopting a balanced approach, “Silence” was the appropriate policy. The Indian government was and is in constant touch with the Gulf countries and Iran behind the scenes. That’s why Strait of Hormoz Four-five of our ships arrived safely. Even today we saw that the Prime Minister is continuously talking with the heads of states and heads of European countries.
Amidst all this crisis, Congress Leader Shashi Tharoor His statement came,” India’s silence on the Iran issue is not cowardice. It reflects the understanding that national interest requires wisdom, not showmanship.”
Shashi Tharoor further said that“He understands the Indian government’s desire to take a cautious stand on the conflict, and hoped that it could make a public call to both sides to end the war quickly”
Congress senior with Shashi Tharoor Leader Manish Tiwari Ji also expressed similar views. In today’s multi-polar world and multi-alignment world, India is moving ahead by keeping its policies balanced and taking steps carefully while giving importance to the national interest. The Government of India and Prime Minister Modi ji are talking about global justice while giving priority to India’s sovereignty and security. No power in the world can bend our values, ideals and principles. This is what India is demonstrating. One more thing we can say here and would like to tell the world – No one holds a monopoly over patriotism, nor over the interpretation of the values taught by our great leaders and thinkers.
