Qatar Foreign Ministry has blamed Iran for the attack on ‘Ras Laffan’. The State Department said Iran had “crossed the red line” as it targeted civilians and critical sites. The country’s government company Qatar Energy said that the plant was evacuated several hours before the attack. All employees are safe. Qatar said that such attacks can worsen the situation in the entire region, therefore all countries should together try to reduce tension and maintain peace.

“Civil Defense has completely extinguished all fires in the Ras Laffan Industrial Area, and there have been no reports of injuries. Work to extinguish the fires and secure the sites is still ongoing, while the explosives unit of the Internal Security Forces (Lekhwiya) is carrying out its work to handle any hazardous materials,” Qatar’s Interior Ministry told XPost.

Let us tell you that the ‘Ras Laffan’ gas plant in Qatar is home to the world’s largest natural gas (LNG) export plant, which accounted for about one fifth of the global supply before production stopped earlier this month. Tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is at a standstill following the US and Israeli attacks on Iran. Due to which Ras Lafan was cut off from the rest of the world.
