Tension suddenly reached its peak in the Middle East on Saturday, when several military actions were claimed by Iran. The Iranian army said it carried out a drone attack on Kuwait International Airport, which caused serious damage to the radar system there. According to Kuwait’s Civil Aviation Authority, air traffic operations were affected after this attack and security arrangements had to be immediately tightened.
Iran’s claim
Iran made another big claim on the same day, saying that it has targeted an anti-drone system depot located in the United Arab Emirates. This depot was allegedly linked to Ukraine and was being used to help the US Army. Khatam al-Anbia, head of Iran’s central military command, said in a statement broadcast on state TV that the depot was successfully targeted and destroyed along with US military bases in Dubai. It is noteworthy that shortly before this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had visited the UAE and agreed on defense cooperation.
Meanwhile, the scope of conflict in the area seemed to be increasing further. Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed to have launched a missile attack on Israel early Saturday. However, the Israeli Army said that it intercepted the missile and did not cause any major damage. This attack took place at a time when Israel had already warned to intensify its campaign against Iran and had talked about taking action against Iran’s nuclear sites.
Iran’s claim regarding Dubai
Iran also made shocking claims regarding Dubai. According to Iranian media, two secret bases of the US Army were targeted there, where a large number of soldiers were present. It was claimed that hundreds of American soldiers were hiding in these bases and they suffered heavy losses in Iranian missile and drone attacks. However, these claims have not been independently verified.
These incidents have deepened instability throughout West Asia. Due to continuously increasing attacks and retaliatory actions, it is feared that a situation of widespread conflict may arise in the region, which may have an impact at the global level as well.
