Iran enraged by blockade of Iranian ports
America has imposed a naval blockade on Iran’s ports. Trump took this decision when the peace talk between the two sides in Islamabad was inconclusive. The US Central Command had announced to stop all ships entering and leaving Iranian ports. On this, the advisor to the supreme leader of Iran threatened to sink American ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The military adviser to Iran’s supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei warned on Wednesday that Iran would sink American ships if the United States decided to monitor American ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Mohsen Rezaei, former commander-in-chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), said during a conversation with state TV, ‘Mr Trump wants to be the ‘police officer’ of the Strait of Hormuz, but is this really his job? Is this the work of a powerful army like America? He further said, ‘These ships of yours (US) will be sunk by our first missiles. They have posed a big threat to the American Army. These can definitely be hit by our missiles and we can destroy them.
Rezai has also given a big statement regarding extending the ceasefire agreement between America and Iran. He said, ‘I am not at all in favor of extending the ceasefire and this is my personal view.’ This statement of Rezai has come at a time when efforts are being made for the second round of peace talks after the failure of the peace talk between America and Iran in Islamabad.
At the same time, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt said that in the morning I saw some incorrect reporting, which said that we have formally requested to extend the ceasefire. This is not true. The Iran-related maritime sanctions will apply to ships of all countries transiting to and from Iranian ports. Especially in the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman.
White House Press Secretary Carolyn Leavitt, in a post on the social media platform “This includes all Iranian ports in the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, and our US forces in the region are supporting freedom of navigation for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports.”
“US Navy ships are patrolling the Gulf of Oman, while CENTCOM continues to enforce the US blockade of ships transiting Iranian ports,” he said. US forces are present there, alert and ready to ensure compliance with the rules.
