Iran gave such a wound to America that now the superpower has started limping, will the situation be like Germany-Japan of 1945?
The ongoing war with Iran has posed a challenge to America’s military supremacy that perhaps even the Pentagon had not imagined. A sensational report by CNN has shocked the whole world. According to the report, in this ongoing conflict against Iran, America’s weapons stockpile has been depleted to an alarming level. The situation is so serious that the stock of THAAD and Patriot interceptor missiles available with the US Army has been reduced to half. Experts claim that if this war continues for a long time, America’s condition could be similar to that of Germany and Japan in 1945 after the Second World War.
Is the ‘superpower’ of weapons ending?
There is a possibility of the intensity of the war increasing further after US President Donald Trump announced the end of the ceasefire. But the matter of concern is that America has a severe shortage of ammunition to fight it. In the initial phase of the war, the American Army used thousands of its advanced missiles. According to the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), America has also used about 30 percent of its Tomahawk cruise missiles.
Danger will increase for China and North Korea
Defense experts believe that this rapidly decreasing stockpile of weapons has become a strategic risk for America. According to Colonel Mark Cancian, if the situation continues like this, America’s hold in the Indo-Pacific region may weaken. The biggest danger is that if America has to fight a big rival like China or North Korea in the future, it will not have enough weapons. The current pace of replenishment of weapons is so slow that it may take three to five years for America to bring the stockpile back to its previous level.
Production delays and budget whining
The surprising thing is that even after the war started, the US Congress has not yet approved any additional budget to increase the production of these missiles. Under the current capacity, America is getting only 15 Tomahawk and 20 Patriot missiles every month, while no new delivery of THAAD interceptor is scheduled in 2026. Former Pentagon official Ellen McCusker has clearly said that it will take years to resume supplies of most essential weapons.
Pentagon claims, experts fear
On the other hand, the Pentagon says that it is trying to increase production through the ‘Defense Production Act’ and is also allowing production to countries like Germany-Ukraine. The Pentagon has assured that it has sufficient capability to protect its allies. But defense experts are considering it just a ‘show’. He believes that if this indiscriminate use of missiles continues, then superpower America may soon have to suffer the heavy consequences of its strategic mistakes.
