Iran gets another blow, IRGC spokesperson Ali Mohammad killed in Israeli attack

Tension has reached its peak in the Middle East, where rapid attacks continue between America, Israel and Iran. Iran has now suffered another major blow, when the chief spokesperson of IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naini was killed. Earlier, several top military officers, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Intelligence Minister Ismail Khatib, had been killed.

Iranian state media Press TV confirmed on Friday that Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naini was killed in an Israeli strike. On Thursday, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also announced that they had killed Iran’s Intelligence Minister Ismail Khatib. The IDF reported that Khatib had carried out repressive actions against Iranian civilians during the Mahsa Amini protests (2022–2023).

Earlier this week, Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani and Basij paramilitary chief Gholamreza Soleimani were also killed in Israeli air strikes on Tuesday.

Iran’s political structure is strong

However, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview earlier this week that the country’s political structure is very strong and the death of these leaders will not cause any major loss to Iran’s leadership. “Iran’s political structure is so strong that the death of any one person will not affect it,” he said.

Araghchi explained, “Iran has a stable and strong political, economic and social structure, with all institutions functioning properly. The strength of the Islamic Republic of Iran lies in its political system, and it does not matter whether any one person is there or not.”
