Iran-Israel War: Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei safe, Araghchi refutes Israel’s claims
Tehran: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that his country’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is alive “as far as I know”. Mr. Araghchi, in an interview with NBC News, denied reports that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had been killed in Israeli strikes.
His death was claimed by some Israeli media houses. Abbas Araghchi did say that one or two of his commanders have been killed, but most of the officers are alive.
He described regime change in Iran as an impossible task, saying there was no dialogue with the US at the moment, and added that if Washington wanted to talk, they knew how to reach out to the Iranians. But he made clear that the attacks must stop before there can be any possibility of talks.
UAE issues red alert after Iranian attacks, puts defense personnel on high alert
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has said it has responded to Iranian airstrikes quickly and “highly efficiently” and there have been no reports of any damage in the Iranian attack so far. The UAE Defense Ministry said on Saturday that it has also put the armed forces on high alert and ordered operational readiness in case of any further threat from the enemy.
According to the UAE military, debris from the downed missiles fell in different areas of Abu Dhabi, including Saadiyat Island, Khalifa City, Bani Yas, Mohammed bin Zayed City and Al Falah. Officials said no one was injured in the affected areas.
Criticizing the attacks, the UAE Defense Ministry described the attacks as a flagrant violation of the country’s sovereignty and international law. The UAE said that it has the full right to take all necessary defensive measures to protect its territory and citizens.
The UAE said the safety of residents and visitors is Abu Dhabi’s top priority. Officials urged people to rely on official sources for information and avoid spreading any unverified misinformation amid a new wave of tensions in the region and the US’s sudden confrontation with Israel and Iran.
