Iran-Israel War: The war will affect industries including the construction sector in India; What exactly will happen?
New Delhi : US-Israel IranThe above attack has created a new global crisis. This conflict is affecting India as well. It is said that this will directly affect the fuel supply. India is being affected in various fields. The war will have an impact on industries including the construction sector.
More than 80 percent of India’s cooking gas (LPG) requirement comes from the Gulf countries. Besides, India imports a large part of its natural gas (NG) from countries (Qatar, Saudi Arabia) for power generation and industry. Due to this strike, there are difficulties in coming through this sea route. Besides, India is heavily dependent on Asia for cement production and construction materials. India imports 68.5 percent of its total limestone from this region. If supply constraints arise, cement prices may rise, which may directly impact infrastructure projects in India.
In India, infrastructure works are currently underway on a large scale. Therefore, there is a huge demand for iron. More than half of direct reduced arsenic, the most important input for steel production, is imported from West Asia. Moreover, Indian steel plants depend on LPG and LNG to meet their energy requirements and reduce carbonisation. High price volatility and reduced availability will be a major challenge for the sector.
Urea production will be affected
West Asian countries meet India’s huge demand for raw materials for fertilizers. 65.8 percent of India’s sulfur imports come from West Asia. It is essential for production of sulfuric acid and fertilizers. LNG is also used for urea production. India’s domestic urea production may be affected if supply of LN and sulfur is disrupted for more than a month.
