Iran proposed to create a regional security framework with new conditions for ending the war.
Tehran, March 22. Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian proposed creating a security framework combining the countries of the region to ensure peace, security and stability in West Asia without any foreign interference. Along with this he reiterated the conditions for ending the ongoing war.
He said this in a phone call with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which the two sides discussed mutual relations as well as new regional and international developments following the US and Israel attacks on Iran, Xinhua news agency quoted Iran’s government news agency IRNA as saying.
According to the report, Pejeshkian said that Iran’s first condition for ending the war is to immediately stop the attacks by the US and Israel and to guarantee that such attacks will not happen again in the future. He strongly condemned the US and Israel for killing Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, top military commanders and civilians, and targeting the country’s public infrastructure.
Yesterday, US President Donald Trump had claimed that the purpose of the war is to stop the country from making nuclear weapons. However, Pejeshkian rejected the US President’s claims and emphasized that Iran’s former leader was strongly against building nuclear weapons and had issued necessary orders to stop any such efforts.
During this conversation, PM Modi expressed ‘deep concern’ over the increasing tension in the region, strongly condemned any attack on the energy infrastructure of the region and appealed to ensure security in the Strait of Hormuz and freedom of navigation in the Gulf.
It is noteworthy that on February 28, Israel and America jointly attacked the capital Tehran and many other cities of Iran, in which Ali Khamenei as well as senior Iranian military commanders and civilians were killed. Iran responded with a volley of missile and drone attacks that targeted US bases and assets in Israel and the Middle East.
