He said the rising number of deaths in Iran is extremely scary and the use of excessive force is not acceptable at any cost. He has condemned the restrictions being imposed on people’s freedom by the security forces, calling it a blatant violation of human rights.

New proposal for sanctions

Layne informed that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has already been included in the European Union’s human rights sanctions list. Now, together with Kaya Kalas, a proposal is being prepared to impose even stricter sanctions on those officials who are responsible for this repression. The objective of the European Union is to immediately stop the violence by putting diplomatic pressure on the Iranian leadership through these sanctions.

Qatar’s peace appeal

During a press conference held in Doha, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari expressed his concern over the increasing tension in the region. Expressing concern over the threats being issued by America to Iran, he said that any kind of military increase would have disastrous consequences. Qatar is currently in talks with all parties to find a diplomatic and peaceful solution to this crisis.
