Iran put a condition before Trump… said- Vice President JD Vance should be the chief negotiator in the talks with America.
Tehran/Washington: There has been a new diplomatic turn in the ongoing tense situation between America and Iran. According to sources, Iran has given a clear message to the US administration that it does not want to re-engage with Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. Instead, Tehran is seeking to negotiate directly with Vice President J.D. Vance, finding Vance’s stance relatively mild and anti-war compared to other leaders.
No use with Witkoff and Kushner
Iran believes that there has been a severe lack of trust after the breakdown of past talks with Witkoff and Kushner. After that the situation worsened due to military action by Israel and America. Citing regional sources, CNN reported that Iranian representatives have sent a message through back channels that new talks with the two will prove futile.
On the other hand, Iran considers JD Vance to be a more balanced leader than Witkoff, Kushner and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Tehran believes that Vance is in favor of ending the war early and can make serious efforts in this direction. Vance is generally seen as a leader who does not advocate unnecessary war.
Trump said – the entire team is involved
On Tuesday, President Trump himself said that talks are going on between America and Iran. “The conversations include JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Jared Kushner, Steve Witkoff and myself,” he explained. Trump claimed that America has won this war and Iran’s navy and air force have been badly damaged.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt told CNN that it is only President Trump who decides who will negotiate. “President Trump, and only President Trump, decides who will negotiate on behalf of America,” he stressed.
What is the whole issue?
This development comes in the backdrop of the 15-point ceasefire proposal and Pakistan’s mediation. Iran is still insisting on confidence building, while America is keeping its military preparations in full swing. The lines of talks are open between the two sides, but Iran is clearly citing Vance as its preferred face.
