Islamabad. The Iranian delegation to join peace talks with the United States has taken an emotional and powerful symbolic step that has captured the attention of the entire world.

The delegation led by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf reached the capital of Pakistan on Saturday morning. The seats of his plane were decorated with photographs of 168 innocent Minab school children killed in the Israel-US attack, their blood-stained school bags, shoes and white flowers. In this unique way, Iran reminded the Minab tragedy before the peace talks and strongly raised the voice of innocent people.

Ghalibaf shared a picture inside the plane on social media platform In the picture, children’s pictures, bags and shoes are seen kept on empty seats, which presents a heart-wrenching scene.

What was Minab tragedy?

On 28 February 2026, 168 people were killed, mostly schoolgirls aged 7 to 12, in an attack on Shazareh Tayyaba Primary School in Minab, Iran. Iran blames America and Israel for this attack. The incident is considered to be the largest civilian casualty in Iran’s recent conflict.

The Iranian delegation itself has been named ‘Minab 168’. This step of Ghalibaf is giving a clear message that the martyred children of Minab cannot be forgotten in peace talks.

High-level peace talks between America and Iran

The first high-level peace talks are being held in Islamabad 40 days after the war between the US and Iran began. The American team has reached Pakistan under the leadership of US Vice President JD Vance. Apart from Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi and other officials are included from the Iranian side.

Iran has set some conditions for talks, including stopping Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon and releasing Iran’s blocked assets.

Pakistan has welcomed both sides and is hosting the talks. Ghalibaf and his fellow officers were welcomed by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, National Assembly Speaker, Army Chief and other high officials.
