Iran refuses to join Islamabad peace talks, says it will not hold talks until ceasefire is implemented in Lebanon

New Delhi. Iran has refused to join the ceasefire deal being held in Pakistan. According to Iranian Media: Fars News Agency, Iran has said that it will not negotiate until the ceasefire is implemented in Lebanon. Earlier, American website Wall Street General had reported that the Iranian delegation had reached Pakistan on Thursday evening. This includes Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Araghchi. However, Fars News called it fake.

The report said that the Iranian delegation has not reached Islamabad and has no plans to go there. The agency also rejected reports that the Iranian team had reached for talks. American media Wall Street Journal had earlier reported that the Iranian delegation has reached Islamabad to start talks. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai said any peace talks require the US to observe a ceasefire on all fronts, especially in Lebanon.

Earlier on April 7, America and Iran had agreed on a two-week ceasefire. It was also decided that the leaders of both the countries would meet for a meeting in Pakistan. The talks are to be held in Islamabad on Saturday. For this, the American delegation will reach Islamabad today.

Deal to be made between America and Iran on these issues

Iran’s nuclear program: America says there will be no enrichment in Iran. Iran would have to release all of its high-level enriched uranium and close or limit its nuclear facilities.

Strait of Hormuz: Much of the world’s oil and gas passes through this route. Iran still wants to take control of it and is talking about charging tolls (fees). At the same time, America wants the road to be completely open and safe, without any obstacles or fees.

Ballistic Missile Program: America wants to ban Iran’s long-range missiles.

Removing Sanctions: Iran wants all US and international sanctions to be immediately lifted, frozen assets returned and compensation also given.

Why is Iran demanding ceasefire in Lebanon?

Hezbollah is the most powerful Iran-backed and armed militia in Lebanon.

If Israeli attacks in Lebanon continue and Hezbollah weakens, Iran’s regional network could collapse.

Iran had set 10 conditions for the ceasefire, which included ending regional wars, i.e. stopping attacks on Iran, Lebanon, Yemen.
