Iran rejected America’s 15-point proposal, big answer came on 45-day ceasefire
New Delhi: Efforts for a ceasefire have intensified amid the ongoing tension between America and Iran in the Middle East. America had given a 15-point proposal to Iran, which included conditions for ending the war. Now Iran has given its reply on this proposal. There is also talk of a temporary ceasefire of 45 days. Countries like Egypt, Pakistan and Türkiye are mediating between the two parties.
These countries sent a draft resolution late on Sunday night, appealing for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a 45-day ceasefire. This period is being considered as sufficient time to negotiate a permanent peace.
Iran called 15-point proposal extremely demanding
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said that America’s 15-point proposal is too demanding. Iran has prepared its own set of conditions and formalized them. The Iranian side says that talks cannot be done with threats.
Iran has insisted on creating a protocol with Oman for the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran also feared that the pilot rescue operation in Isfahan could be a ruse to seize uranium. Iran believes that the ceasefire may give the opposing side a chance to regroup.
Trump gave deadline till Tuesday
US President Donald Trump has increased the pressure on Iran and said that if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened by Tuesday, the consequences will be very bad. Trump warned in strong language on social media that Iran’s power plants and bridges could be attacked.
Trump is continuously hinting that the war may end soon, but attacks from both sides are continuing. Iran made it clear that it will take any decision only keeping in mind its national security and interests.
Everyone’s eyes on the situation
At present there is no direct dialogue between the two countries. Mediators are hoping the 45-day extension will help lead to a permanent ceasefire, but Iran has said no deal is possible amid the threats.
The whole world is keeping an eye on this tension because the Strait of Hormuz is an important route for the world’s oil transportation. If it remains closed, global oil prices may be affected.
