Iran released pictures of the wreckage of US CH-47 helicopter, accident happened in Kuwait
Iranian state media Press TV on Saturday released photos of the wreckage of a US CH-47 Chinook helicopter, which the media said was shot down by Iran. There is no confirmation of this incident yet by the US administration.
According to Iranian media Mehr News Agency, an Iranian projectile hit an American helicopter that was on a search mission for the pilot of a US F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet.
US forces have successfully rescued a crew member of an F-15E that went down in Iran, CNN reports. The rescued person is safe and is receiving medical treatment in US custody. However, the condition of the second crew member is still uncertain and “search and rescue operations are ongoing.”
This F-15E double-seat aircraft was rotated on Friday. CNN analyzed photos released by Iranian media and confirmed that the Malba is similar to the F-15. At the same time, The Wall Street Journal, while giving the solution of Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, said that a map was shared on X (formerly Twitter) in which the searched place was marked.
This is the first time during the current conflict in Iran that an American aircraft was shot down. The wreckage revealed that the aircraft belonged to the 494th Fighter Squadron, RAF Lakenheath, UK.
US President Donald Trump said the loss of the US military aircraft will have no impact on diplomatic talks with Iran. He said, “No, not at all. We are at war.”
In addition, the Iranian military claimed that they also rammed and shot down another American A-10 attack aircraft. However, there has been no independent confirmation of these seizures yet. The A-10 is technically a ground attack aircraft, designed primarily for operations against armored vehicles and ground forces.
