Petrol and diesel will be expensive! What are Iran’s strict rules for ships passing through Hormuz? that shook the world
middle east The war that broke out between Iran and Israel-America is not showing any signs of stopping. Due to this war, the Strait of Hormuz closed by Iran has created a crisis regarding gas and oil across the world. America is repeatedly warning Iran about this but Iran is not ready to open Hormuz. Rather, Iran has now decided to charge toll from ships passing through Hormuz. Now big information is coming out regarding this. According to Bloomberg report, new rules have been proposed for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, under which they may have to pay heavily in exchange for safe passage.
According to the report, this amount could be up to $2 million and will have to be paid in Chinese yuan or cryptocurrency. Following a bill recently passed by the Iranian Parliament, control over this strategic waterway appears to be further tightened, which could have a deep impact on global oil supply and trade.
What are the new rules for passing through Hormuz?
According to Bloomberg’s report, under this new process, ships will have to use a secret identification code. Additionally, they will have to follow a special payment arrangement to avoid being targeted by Iran. It is being told that tanker and cargo operators will have to make payment through a company linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, so that they can get safe passage.
What will be the function of secret signal?
According to the new arrangement, ships will have to operate under the flag of a non-enemy country and broadcast a secret signal. This will signal to the Iranian Navy that the vessel in question has been allowed to pass through the strait safely. Apart from this, ships will have to share complete information related to their ownership, cargo, destination, crew and Automatic Identification System (AIS) in advance.
How much will Iran charge?
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy will investigate all this information and ensure that the ships concerned do not have any direct connection with America or Israel. Only after getting approval, the ships will be allowed to proceed, for which transit fee will also be fixed. According to the report, this fee for oil tankers could start from around $1 per barrel.
Will global oil supply be affected?
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime trade routes, passing through approximately 20 percent of the global oil supply. In such a situation, these new rules are likely to have a major impact on the global energy market. Due to which the prices of petrol and diesel may also be affected.
Iran has defended these rules in a letter to the International Maritime Organization. “As a coastal state adjacent to the strait, the Islamic Republic of Iran, in full compliance with the established principles and rules of international law, has prohibited the movement of vessels belonging to or associated with the attackers,” the letter said.
