Iran Tests Sayyad-3G Missile: Iran has created a stir across the world by testing its Sayyad-3G missile in the Strait of Hormuz. The test was conducted by the Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) under the name “Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz” Done as part of practice. The Sayyad-3G missile was launched from the Shahid Sayyad Shirazi frigate, the third ship of the Shahid Soleimani-class.
The ship is named after General Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a US drone strike in 2020. The missile is a naval version of the Sayyad-3, and has a Vertical Launch System (VLS), allowing it to launch more effectively and quickly.
Specialty of Sayyad-3G missile?
The Sayyad-3G missile has a range of approximately 150 kilometres, making it highly capable of engaging air-to-air targets. It can independently detect and destroy fighter jets, drones, patrol aircraft and some cruise missiles. Shaheed Sayed Shirazi The ship carries six VLS silos, making it a mobile air defense hub. Through these silos, a 150 kilometer air defense bubble is formed around the ship, which strengthens Iran’s maritime defense in an important area like the Strait of Hormuz.

This missile test has been conducted at a time when tensions between Iran and the US and its allies are at their peak. IRGC officials said the missile provides a strong regional air defense system for the Shahid Soleimani-class ships, marking a new twist in Iran’s maritime strategy.
