Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed this on Thursday, June 18, 2026. He told that this agreement has been named “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding”. US President Donald Trump had also talked about signing it during dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Key points of the agreement

  • Wars and military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, will now stop completely and forever.
  • Both countries and their allies will no longer conduct any military attacks or threaten to use force in the future.
  • Iran has assured that it will neither make nor buy nuclear weapons from anywhere.
  • The US will immediately begin lifting its maritime blockade against Iran and completely end it within 30 days.
  • Iran has decided that it will give passage to commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz without any fees for 60 days, after which it will take money for it.

Due to this digital signing, the formal meeting to be held in Geneva, Switzerland on June 19 will no longer take place. However, negotiating teams from both countries are still present in Geneva and can meet there.

Iran’s chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that Iran has full rights over the Strait of Hormuz and after 60 days, fees will be charged from ships passing through there. He called this entire agreement a failure of America. At the same time, President Trump admitted that America has taken a lot of money from Iran, which will now have to be returned.
