Iran-US Peace Talks: Heated exchange between Iranian Foreign Minister and Witkoff during peace talks, scuffle broke out
Iran-US Peace Talks: After the failure of the ongoing peace talks mediated by Pakistan, a new update has now emerged. A report by Turkish media has come out regarding the peace talks. According to the report, the peace talks witnessed a heated argument between Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi and Donald Trump’s representative in Middle East affairs, Steve Witkoff. According to the report, the argument went to such an extent that a scuffle broke out, but somehow the matter was calmed down by intervention.
Dispute over control of Hormuz Strait
According to the report, the main reason for the dispute between Witkoff and Araghchi was control over the Strait of Hormuz. During the US-Iran conflict, Iran closed this most important waterway, disrupting global crude oil and natural gas supplies. During the meeting, control over the Strait of Hormuz was also discussed. There was a sharp difference of opinion between the two sides regarding this. According to the report, during the conversation the atmosphere suddenly became so heated that both the parties started using sharp words at each other. On this, the Iranian side said in a strict tone that Iranians should not be threatened in any way, after which the tension increased further.
Iran rejected Turkish media report
No official US source has yet confirmed the report’s claim. Experts on the incident believe that it is natural to have tense debates during diplomatic talks. Iran outright rejected the Turkish media report. Iranian media said that this is just a fabricated story.
