Iran flew drones, then America also made a big attack
Tension between Iran and America seems to be increasing once again. On Saturday, several drones were sent by Iran in the direction of Hormuz, after which the US Army took prompt action and shot down at least four drones. This incident has been confirmed by the American Central Command (CENTCOM).
According to US officials, these were one-way attack drones, which were either sent to target commercial ships passing through the sea route or were launched with the aim of attacking US military resources present in the area.
Did America retaliate?
The US Army also retaliated immediately after disabling the drone. The US attacked radar sites on Goruk and Qeshm Islands, targeting Iran’s coastal surveillance system. The US Army says that this action was taken to prevent further possible attacks and to ensure the safety of maritime traffic.
CENTCOM said in its official statement that US forces shot down Iranian drones heading towards Hormuz because they were posing an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic.
The statement further said that following the drone attack, the US military took action against Iranian coastal surveillance radar bases located on Goruk and Qeshm Islands in self-defense and to maintain security in the region. CENTCOM also said that US forces are on full alert and ready to respond to any possible aggressive action.
Are both countries accusing each other?
This incident has come to light at a time when despite the implementation of the ceasefire between America and Iran, the tension has not completely ended. Both countries have been continuously accusing each other of ceasefire violations. Besides, talks are also going on at the diplomatic level to end the conflict.
Attacks on American bases and airports in Iran
Tension in the region also increased earlier this week, when Iran launched missile and drone attacks on US military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait. The US Army had claimed that those attacks were successfully stopped and there was no major damage. However, the news of the death of an Indian citizen in an attack on Kuwait Airport was revealed, which further increased the seriousness of this entire conflict.
This incident that happened around Hormuz on Saturday has become a matter of concern at the global level as well. Hormuz is one of the world’s most important sea routes, through which a large part of the global oil supply passes. In such a situation, any kind of military activity here can have an impact on international trade and energy markets.
What did Trump say about Iran’s capability?
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran’s military capability has suffered huge damage due to American attacks. However, he also admitted that Iran still has the ability to retaliate to some extent. In an interview with NBC News, Trump said that America has seriously weakened Iran’s military strength.
He said that most of Iran’s drone factories, launching pads and many important missile manufacturing sites have been destroyed. However, according to him, Iran still has some missiles and drones, which it can use.
How many missiles does Iran have left?
Trump also claimed that Iran now has only about 21 to 22 percent of its original missile stockpile left. He said that this number is still quite high, but Iran is no longer as strong as it was at the beginning of the conflict.
The latest development has come to light at a time when representatives of both the countries are negotiating for a comprehensive agreement. The objective of this agreement is to reduce tension in the region and end the long-running conflict. However, the claims of both the sides regarding the progress of talks are different. President Trump has said in recent days that the talks are moving in the right direction and positive results are expected.
