On Friday (April 3, 2026), Iran targeted and shot down an American F-15E fighter plane. One crew member of the plane had already been rescued, while the other (a colonel) was missing and had landed in southwestern Iran.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had announced a reward of more than $60,000 for the capture of the pilot alive and launched a massive search operation across the region.
Trump’s strict warning
After the success of the rescue operation, Trump further toughened his stance against Iran. He gave a final ultimatum of 48 hours to Iran and said that either make a compromise or open the Strait of Hormuz, otherwise “all hell will reign down” i.e. there will be fierce attacks on Iran.
