This African country is going through the world’s biggest hunger crisis amid Iran War, now hospital attacked, 10 dead
Sudan Crisis: iran There is a war going on in India, but there is a country which is struggling with massive starvation and civil war. The daily shelling and deaths have taken away thousands of lives. International medical organization Doctors Without Borders has strongly condemned the drone attack on a hospital in Sudan. 10 people died in the attack, which took place in the south-central part of the country.
The organization, also known by its French name MSF, said the Al Jablain hospital in White Nile state was attacked twice on Thursday. In these attacks, the operation theater and maternity ward of the hospital were targeted. According to MSF, the attack was allegedly carried out by the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces.
How many died in the attack on the hospital?
Esperanza Santos, MSF’s emergency chief in Sudan, said at least 10 people were killed in the attack, including seven medical staff. He told that some of them had previously worked with MSF. He said that this attack is even more tragic because at that time a campaign to vaccinate children was going on. He expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.
When did the civil war start in Sudan?
This attack is part of a series of attacks on health services amid the ongoing civil war in Sudan. This war started in April 2023 between the Army and Rapid Support Forces. In another attack on the same day, a medical supply depot was targeted in Rabak, the capital of White Nile province.
Local rights group Emergency Lawyers said that since March, drone attacks have continued in areas like South Kordofan, Blue Nile, East, Central and South Darfur, due to which large numbers of people are being displaced.
How many attacks have taken place since March?
According to the World Health Organization, there have been more than 200 attacks on health centers since the war began in March. Last month, an attack on a hospital in the West Darfur region killed 70 people, including at least 13 children.
On Friday, Sudan’s Minister of Culture, Information, Archeology and Tourism Khalid Aleissir condemned the attack and called for the Rapid Support Forces to be declared a terrorist organization. He said that regional supporters are also responsible for promoting this violence, who are providing military and technical help, modern weapons and drones.
