Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf’s warning to America – ‘We haven’t even started yet’
Tehran, May 5. Iran’s chief negotiator and Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who is in talks with the US amid the ongoing ceasefire between Iran and the US, warned that his country has not even started in the ongoing standoff over the Strait of Hormuz.
Ghalibaf posted on The actions of the US and its allies have put shipping security at risk. But he also said that their harmful presence would be reduced.
Iran claims – 5 Iranian citizens killed in American firing
Meanwhile, Iran claimed on Tuesday that when American destroyer ships tried to enter the Strait of Hormuz, the Iranian Navy fired warning shots at them. At the same time, America attacked its civilian boats, in which five Iranian citizens were killed. However, the US claimed that the boats it attacked belonged to Iran’s IRGC.
According to news agency Xinhua, it has been learned that the US military had attacked two small civilian cargo boats, which were sailing from Khasab along the Omani coast towards Iran. Five civilians aboard the boat were killed in the attack.
Earlier on Monday, in another phone interview with ABC News, US President Donald Trump avoided saying that Iran’s Monday attacks violated the US-Iran ceasefire. Trump downplayed the attacks, saying, “This was not a mass shooting.”
On the other hand, US Central Command chief Brad Cooper told reporters on Monday, ‘Iranian forces fired several cruise missiles, drones and small boats at the ships we were protecting.’ US forces sank six Iranian small boats and intercepted several missiles and drones targeting civilian ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran later rejected the US claims, saying no commercial ships or oil tankers had passed through the Strait of Hormuz, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.
It is known that on February 28, America and Israel had carried out joint attacks on Tehran and other Iranian cities. After this, Iran has imposed a ban on sea routes connected to America and Israel. Cooper told a press conference that the Iranian boats were attacked by US Apache and MH-60 Seahawk helicopters.
Meanwhile, US media outlet CBS News reported that two US Navy destroyers have passed through the Strait of Hormuz and entered the Gulf, bypassing the Iranian barrage. The report, quoting Pentagon officials on condition of anonymity, said that with the help of Apache helicopters and other aircraft, USS Truxton and USS Mason faced many threats along the way.
