The Wall Street Journal said in its report on Friday that Pakistan’s efforts for a ceasefire between America and Iran have failed. Iran has once again reiterated its initial conditions. Regarding the ceasefire agreement, Iran has made it clear that it finds America’s demands in this matter ‘unacceptable’. They will not send their officials to meet with US officials in Islamabad. After which the doors to the current framework of negotiations have been effectively closed.
What are Iran’s conditions?
In the initial phase of ceasefire talks, Iran had said that it would end the war only if America provides compensation for the war losses. America should withdraw from all its military bases in the Middle East and guarantee security from any future attack. However, due to these demands of Iran and the conditions of America, the talks are stuck. According to a report by Axios, the US had proposed under this agreement that if Tehran reopens the Strait of Hormuz sea route for global trade, then a ceasefire could be implemented in return.
