Iran’s dreadful threat creates earthquake in Silicon Valley, 18 American companies including Apple-Google declared military targets – ..
News India Live, Digital Desk: The ongoing tension between Iran and America has now moved beyond the battlefield and has directly reached ‘Silicon Valley’, the bastion of the tech world. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has recently issued a scary warning that has given sleepless nights to the entire global tech industry. Iran has declared 18 leading American companies like Apple, Google and Microsoft as its ‘legitimate military targets’ and threatened to attack them directly. Amidst this high alert, the world’s famous chip maker company ‘Intel’ was the first to react and made important changes in its security strategy.
Why is Iran angry and what is its allegation? Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have directly targeted these American companies through a post on their official Telegram channel. Iran clearly alleges that these big tech companies have been involved in some way or the other in the American and Israeli attacks on Iranian soil or are providing technical help to them. The Guards have openly threatened in their post that for every murder from now on, an American company will be completely destroyed. Iran had also given an ultimatum to the companies to vacate their offices.
These top companies of the world are on target This hit list of Iran includes the world’s top 18 tech and commercial companies. Among these, the prominent names are Apple, Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, Intel, Cisco, HP, Oracle, IBM, Dell, Palantir and Boeing. Not only tech, but JPMorgan, Tesla, GE (Electric) and United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based AI firm G42 from banking and other sectors have also been kept on its radar by Iran.
Intel responded first, increased security Immediately after this direct threat from Iran, Intel has come into action mode. An Intel spokesperson took the security concerns very seriously and issued an official statement saying that the safety and well-being of their team is the company’s number one priority. Although Intel is headquartered in the US, it has major operations and critical data centers in Middle East countries such as Israel and the UAE. The company has taken initial precautionary measures like making tight security arrangements there, monitoring the situation and shifting employees to safe places.
A big threat is looming on global data centers Experts believe that due to their cheap energy and resources, Gulf countries have become global hubs for Artificial Intelligence (AI) infrastructure and big data centers these days. In early March, there was a major attack on the data centers of Amazon Web Services (AWS), due to which there was a massive digital outage in the UAE. In such a situation, any kind of military or cyber attack on these billion-dollar investment sites can badly affect the digital economy of the entire world.
