Iran’s fierce form: Attack on American base with 5 accurate missiles, video of the attack released

New Delhi: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps IRGC has released a video of the attacks on American forces on Sunday. Iran used 5 of its advanced ballistic missiles in this attack. Amidst the increasing tension on the Strait of Hormuz, this attack is being considered a big demonstration of Iran’s growing military power.

Which 5 missiles were used

The IRGC fired Qadr, Emad, Khyber Shakan, Fateh-110 and Zolfag missiles in the attack. These include both solid and liquid fuel missiles. All are precision guided i.e. they aim accurately at the target.

Strength and range of missiles

Qadr Missile: It is a medium range missile. Range from 1800 to 2000 km. Can carry 650 to 1000 kg warhead. Uses both liquid and solid fuels. Expert in penetrating strategic targets.

Emad Missile: Range about 1700 km, payload 750 kg. Its biggest feature is MARV i.e. Maneuverable Re-Entry Vehicle. It can change direction after reaching the target, which makes it easier to dodge air defense.

Khyber Shekan: Solid fuel fast missile. Range 1450 km, warhead 450-600 kg. Due to the maneuverable warhead, it can break the enemy missile defense and is launched within minutes.

Fateh-110: Short-range missile. Range 300 km, warhead 450-500 kg. Is mobile and built for precise attacks. Due to solid fuel it can be fired immediately. Zolfagar: Upgraded missile of the Fateh family.

Range 700 km, warhead 450-600 kg. Has the capability to carry a submunition warhead. This means that one missile falling can cause many small explosions. Drones flying at low altitude were also used along with missiles. These are cheap and prove fatal at short ranges.

How did the attack happen?

According to IRGC, the attack was carried out targeting American bases in areas like Jordan and Bahrain. Solid fuel missiles were ready immediately, while liquid fuel missiles had a longer range. The video shows the missile launching and falling on the target.

America has air defense systems like Patriot, but maneuverable warheads and simultaneous attacks of multiple missiles try to penetrate them. Experts say that this attack has further increased regional tension.

Concerns have increased regarding the security of the Strait of Hormuz and oil prices have also increased. Releasing the IRGC video is also a strategy to send a message to the domestic public and show its status. Iran proved with missiles of different ranges from Qadr to Zolfagar that it has options for all types of targets.
