Iran’s missiles pose a threat to American bases, increasing tension in the Middle East

New Delhi: Tension is increasing between America and Iran in the Middle East. An infographic by FP has caught the world’s attention, showing the ranges of Iran’s main medium-range ballistic missiles. The location of American military bases is also shown. This map shows that Iran’s missiles can target several major US bases in the Middle East.

Iran’s missiles and their range

Iran has the world’s largest missile storage, which contains thousands of ballistic and cruise missiles. These missiles are solid fuel, which can be launched quickly. Iran’s major ballistic missiles and their ranges are as follows:-

Dezful missile is Iran’s short-range ballistic missile, which has a range of about 1000 kilometers. It can easily target neighboring areas like Iraq and Gulf countries.

Fateh-1, Haj Qasem and Khyber Shaken missiles are medium range, with a reach of up to 1400 kilometers. It can reach countries like Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Emad and Gadar-1, The missiles are more advanced, with a range of 1700 kilometers (1600 to 1950 kilometers for Gadar-1). These can reach distant targets like Israel and Jordan.

The Khorramshahr and Sejjil missiles are Iran’s longest range, with a reach of up to 2000 kilometers. It can cover the entire Middle East and is capable of carrying 1500 kg warhead.

American bases in range of Iran

US bases, shown in red dots in the AFP map, are spread across the Middle East. These bases are home to American soldiers, planes and ships. Iran’s missiles can reach them.

• Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar: Headquarters of the US Central Command, more than 10,000 American soldiers. Targeted by missiles with 1400 km range.

• Ain al-Asad Air Base, Iraq: The main American base in Iraq was first attacked by Iran. In 1000 km range.

• Camp Arifjan and Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait: Center for military materials and aircraft. Easy target present in the bay.

• YouS Naval Support Activity, Bahrain: Base, headquarters ships of the US Fifth Fleet. In 1400 km range.

•  Al Dhafra Air Base, UAE: Center of intelligence and fighter planes. Missiles with a range of 2000 km can reach.
