IRCTC partners with food chains to offer branded meals on select trains
New Delhi: With the newest testing and trial method by Indian Railways, now you can rely more on yuor train journeys and enjoy a better view with the meals. The train travel could become more comfortable while enjoying meals from their favourite popular brands on the go. The on-board catering model on select trains by Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is looking to upgrade the quality of food, along with experiential cuisines served to passengers without the worry of delivery and hygiene.
The IRCTC is undertaking Proof of Concept (PoC) in some select trains by dislinking meal preparation from meal service, allowing the well-recognised brands, food chains, restaurants, industrial kitchens or flight caterers to step in and supply meals with hygiene and care to the customers. IRCTC to offer branded meals
The trials for the branded meals are being conducted across various railway zones on some newly introduced Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains across India. IRCTC, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, currently caters to nearly 16.50 lakh meals each day to the passengers across the Indian Railway network.
According to an official statement, the corporation has begun trials aimed at creating a significant improvement in the quality of meal services on trains.
