Ingredients to make bottle gourd cheela

  • Bottle gourd- 700 grams
  • Carrot – ½ cup
  • Spinach – ½ cup
  • Onion- ½ cup
  • Ginger grated-
  • Green chilli- 2
  • Garlic- 8-10 cloves
  • Jowar flour- ¼ cup
  • Gram flour- ¼ cup
  • Ghee- 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
  • Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
  • Garam Masala – ½ tsp
  • Salt- as per taste

Method to make gourd cheela

  • Grate bottle gourd, add salt to it and keep it for 5-10 minutes.
  • Crush garlic, ginger and green chilli. If you want, you can also grind them in a mixer.
  • Add grated carrots, finely chopped spinach, finely chopped onion to it.
  • Add prepared paste of ginger, garlic and green chilli.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and garam masala to it and mix well.
  • Add jowar flour and gram flour to it and mix them and knead well.
  • Water has to be added little by little and not all at once.
  • Leave this prepared mixture to rest for five minutes, so that the vegetables become soft.
  • Heat ghee in a pan and pour this batter. If you want, you can also use oil instead of ghee. When one side becomes golden brown, turn it and cook the other side also.
  • Your healthy bottle gourd peel is ready.
  • Serve it hot with curd, chutney or pickle.
