This veteran will not participate in the auction

The players are waiting for the registration process for the auction, but in the meantime, England's Test captain and veteran all-rounder Ben Stokes has made an important announcement. Stokes has said that he will not participate in the mega auction. The reason for this he said was to focus on red ball cricket i.e. Test cricket. But actually there could be another big reason for this.

BCCI's fear

The reason for Ben Stokes being left out of the mega auction of IPL 2025 is not to focus on Test cricket but because of the new rule made by BCCI. Actually, BCCI has made a rule according to which if a player suddenly decides to leave the league after participating in the auction and being bought by a team, then he is banned from the league for 2 years.

England players have been doing this in the past. Injury has also been a big issue with Ben Stokes in recent times. In such a situation, if after being sold in the auction, they decide to opt out of the league due to personal reasons, then they can be banned. Therefore he has already decided to exit the auction. He was not even a part of the previous auction.

Ben Stokes was bought for Rs 16.25 crore in IPL 2023 but he remained out for almost the entire season due to ill health. However, Stokes's IPL career has been excellent. Till now he has been a part of Rising Pune Super Giants, Rajasthan Royals and CSK. So far, Stokes has scored 935 runs in 45 matches played between 2017 and 2023, scoring 2 centuries and 2 half-centuries. Apart from this he has also taken 28 wickets.
